WSOP Satellite Event In New York

The World Series of Poker is finally coming to the Empire State.

WSOP will have its first-ever New York event this year, which begins March 17 at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona.

The 12-day Circuit event will feature 15 opportunities for players to take home a coveted WSOP ring.

WSOP makes New York poker debut

From March 17-28, there will be more than $1 million in guaranteed payouts and a chance to earn a seat at the WSOP Tournament of Champions in Las Vegas. Buy-ins start at $80.

There will also be daily WSOP Satellite Events taking place at The Poker Room until March 16. That includes the opportunity to win a $10,000 seat and travel money for the WSOP Tournament of Champions.

Poker players will square off for a $500,000 grand prize as well as one of 15 WSOP rings. That jewelry is no on display in the Turning Stone Poker Room.

This year’s $10,000 WSOP Main Event begins on July 3, and will now take place on the Strip at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.

Turning Stone was one of 15 casinos elected to run a WSOP Circuit event — including the only one in the Northeast.

WSOP arrives as NY online poker emerges on bill

The World Series of Poker makes its New York debut at an interesting time. After all, the Empire State hopes to expand its poker offerings in the future.

Sen. Joe Addabbo recently introduced a bill that would authorize iGaming in the state.

Addabbo told PlayNY the intent is to have New York online poker included in the iGaming bill, “but if I find out that it needs clarification, by all means, I’ll clarify that.

“But it’s ‘online table games’ and poker is a table game.”
