New Yorkers Win Two Seven-Figure Prizes From Scratch-Off Games Last Week

Lottery Scratchoff Winners Millions Prizes

For two New York Lottery players, the decision to buy a couple of scratch-off tickets paid off big-time. Both of these lottery scratch-off winners live in New York and landed seven-figure prizes, making the past week a lucrative one in terms of prize payouts.

With these prizes off the market, time becomes a bigger factor in the games they played. There are still plenty of seven-figure jackpots available to players of other NY Lottery scratchers, though.

The NY Lottery scratch-off winners’ stories

On July 15, a NY man claimed a $4 million prize he won playing the Michigan Lottery’s Worth Millions game. He bought the ticket at United II Liquor in Dearborn, MI. The anonymous winner recounted the events for the Press & Guide.

“I saw there were two top prizes remaining on the Worth Millions game, so I thought I had good odds,” the 26-year-old man stated. “I gave the ticket to my friend to check when he went to the store. When I got a call from him telling me I won $4 million, I freaked out! I had to pinch myself because I couldn’t believe it was real.”

Upon claiming his prize, he opted for the $2.5 million lump sum. He said he plans to invest his winnings and describes the feeling as surreal. He wasn’t the only one experiencing such a feeling at a lottery claim center last week.

The next day, Robert Walker of Monticello, NY claimed his $3 million prize from a 50X card. He purchased the ticket at the Monticello Quick Mart on Rte 42. Walker also took the lump sum, getting more than $1.7 million after taxes.

According to the Daily Voice, his win means all the top prizes in the 50X game are now gone. As the Worth Millions winner alluded to, there are still some big prizes left on several NY Lottery scratchers.

Dozens of seven-figure prizes remain

The NY Lottery currently offers 91 different scratch-off titles, many with at least one prize of a million dollars or more at stake. Prices for the games range from a dollar to $30. For example, the $30 200X card still has three $10 million prizes available.

The odds of winning one of those three prizes are on par with expectations. Two of the five prizes have already been claimed. The original odds of landing one of the five $10 million prizes were 1 in 3,501,640. With two of the prizes now gone, those odds are actually longer now.

While retailers are the destination of choice for many scratch-off game players, the NY Lottery allows you to buy those tickets using Jackpocket as well. Jackpocket is a lottery courier service, doing the shopping for you.

Additionally, you aren’t confined to just NY Lottery games, as the Worth Millions winner demonstrates. However, if you play a scratch-off in another state, be prepared to make another trip there. Depending on the laws in that state and how much you win, you might have to claim your prize in person.

For a seven-figure prize, a return trip to Michigan or anywhere else would be quite profitable. There are still plenty of chances to win a big prize right in your neighborhood, though. As always, play responsibly.
