The 2026 FIFA World Cup is still months away, but Team USA is already shaping up to be one of the biggest betting attractions for New York sportsbooks.

Unlike previous tournaments, this World Cup carries added attention because the United States is serving as a co-host alongside Canada and Mexico. That means Team USA will play all three group-stage matches on American soil — something operators expect will drive heavy wagering activity from casual and experienced bettors alike.

The are numerous sports wagering sites with markets tied to the US team.

Team USA matches set for major US venues

The U.S. Men’s National Team opens World Cup play on June 12 against Paraguay in Los Angeles. Team USA then faces Australia on June 19 in Seattle before closing Group D action against Paraguay on June 25 at in LA once again.

The home-field atmosphere could create additional excitement for bettors throughout New York, especially with matches expected to air during favorable daytime and primetime windows.

If Team USA advances into the knockout stage, operators are expected to expand wagering menus even further with additional player props, same-game parlays and live wagering opportunities.

The 2026 World Cup runs from June 11 through July 19 and features an expanded 48-team format for the first time in tournament history.

Markets available

Individual game odds are available on sports operators. In addition, there are futures markets involving Team USA.

Popular wagers include betting on the Americans to advance from the group stage, reach the quarterfinals or make a deep tournament run. Some operators are also listing odds to win the entire World Cup, though international powers like Brazil, France, Argentina and England remain early favorites.

New York bettors can legally place wagers through licensed mobile apps as long as they are physically located inside state lines.

Christian Pulisic headlines US interest

AC Milan star Christian Pulisic is expected to generate the most betting interest among Team USA players.

Pulisic remains the face of American soccer heading into the tournament and could become one of the most heavily wagered-on players in goal scorer and assist markets.

Other notable players expected to attract betting attention include Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, striker Folarin Balogun and winger Tim Weah.

Operators are also expected to release expanded player prop markets closer to kickoff, including shots on target, anytime goal scorer bets and tournament-long statistical props.

Live wagering could fuel handle growth

One area platforms continue emphasizing is live wagering during soccer matches.

Operators like FanDuel Sportsbook and BetMGM Sportsbook now offer in-game wagering on markets such as next goal scorer, total goals and updated match odds throughout matches.

Because Team USA matches are expected to attract significant national attention, the World Cup could become one of the largest soccer wagering events New York operators have seen since mobile sports wagering launched in January 2022.
