Eight down. One to go.

Resorts WorldBet on Thursday became the eighth online sports betting operator to launch in New York.

The sportsbook obviously missed the Super Bowl but will be available to New Yorkers for wagering on March Madness. This launch comes as no surprise, as Resorts WorldBet aired dozens of commercials teasing its NY sports betting debut.

With eight online sportsbooks now live in the Empire State, that leaves only one spot remaining. Bally Bet is slated to be the ninth and final app to go live, with its launch expected sometime in April.

Legal online sports betting in NY began on Jan. 8. Since then, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, PointsBet, WynnBet and BetRivers all opened for business before Resorts WorldBet joined the group.

Through Feb. 20, NY online sports betting operators have generated a combined $2.8 billion in handle, leading to $91.4 million in tax revenue for the state off its US-high 51% rate.

Resorts World has two casino properties in New York, including Resorts World Catskills and Resorts World NYC.

It is possible that Resorts World NYC earns a full-casino license as part of the state’s downstate expansion. Local policymakers are seeking to expedite the awarding of three downstate casino licenses as part of the upcoming state budget.
