New York hockey fans, your season isn’t over just yet. You have at least one more opportunity to make some cash, as Islanders Game 6 odds are now live at New Jersey sportsbooks.
Legal sportsbooks across the border aren’t high on New York forcing a decisive game in their series with the Tampa Bay Lightning. But then again, they thought Tampa Bay would close the series out Tuesday night as well.
A look at the latest Islanders Game 6 odds at NJ sportsbooks
If you’re looking to cross the border sometime before the Islanders take the ice again, here’s what New Jersey sportsbooks are offering for NHL betting options. The game is set for 8 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network on Thursday.
Sportsbook | Moneyline | Spread | Total |
---|---|---|---|
BetMGM | Lightning -162 Islanders +135 | Lightning -1.5 +180 Islanders +1.5 -223 | Over 5 -139 Under 5 +115 |

A pertinent question when considering the moneyline for many bettors may be whether Tuesday’s double-overtime win to stave off elimination will fuel New York, or whether the energy necessary to pull that off will prove too taxing.
New Jersey sportsbooks seem to lean toward the latter.
The Islanders have yet to put together back-to-back wins in this series. Coming off a win since the NHL restarted its season, New York has strung together consecutive victories in six of nine opportunities.
Tampa Bay’s record coming off a loss since the restart is a perfect 4-0, however. In terms of other markets, sportsbooks have overvalued defensive and goalie play during this series for the most part. The over has hit in three of the five games.
Also in three of the five games, the margin of victory has been greater than two goals. A deciding factor in this series has been the Lightning striking late.
Third-period defensive woes for New York
Out of the 18 goals that Tampa Bay has scored so far in this series, eight of them have come in the third period of games. The Lightning are 2-1 in this series so far when they score multiple goals in the third period, and undefeated when they win the third.
In both games in which the third period was a push, the Islanders won. New York has yet to outscore Tampa Bay in the third period in this series.
Both teams have combined for 11 third-period goals in the five games so far. Tuesday night’s game was the first in the series in which neither team scored in the third.
Therefore, betting third-period moneylines and totals in Game 6 looks like a wise investment. BetMGM offers +130 odds on over two goals in that period right now, for example.
DraftKings offers +163 odds on both teams scoring in the third period on Thursday. If you believe the Islanders will buck the trend and outscore the Lightning in the third in Game 6, FanDuel will reward your faith with +235 odds.
If you’re willing to stake New York to score over 1.5 goals in Thursday’s third period, Sugarhouse offers a +300 payout for that wager. Please note that the Islanders failed to net a third-period goal in three of the five games of this series so far, however.
If New York forces a decisive game with a trip to the Stanley Cup Final on the line, it will have to at least hold serve in the third on Thursday.
Another late flurry by Tampa Bay could end the Islanders’ season and prove the New Jersey sportsbooks right.
