For a second consecutive year, Turning Stone Casino in Verona will host a series of World Series of Poker circuit events, starting March 13. In 2024, the WSOP competition in the Turning Stone poker room awarded nearly $300,000 to the champion, a man from Brooklyn.
Last year the WSOP recorded 1,188 competitors at Turning Stone, who competed for a prize pool of $1,808,924. This year the WSOP guarantees it will award 18 gold WSOP rings and a minimum of $2,630,000 in tournament prize money to participants.
Ethan Bennett, a New York native from Brooklyn won $298,546 last year in the WSOP event at Turning Stone Casino, defeating Kathrine Brandt of Ladera Ranch, California in the final competition.
WSOP Event at Turning Stone Details
These three poker events will be held at Turning Stone in Verona NY this month:
- On March 13, the WSOP event at Turning Stone will be a $400 No-Limit Hold’em 30K Opener. The competition will commence at 11 AM.
- Qualifying players can compete in the $1,700 Main Event, which will run from March 20-22.
- A $400 No-Limit Hold’em Double Stack event will take place on March 24.

Players can register up to the day of the competitions after paying the buy-in entry fee. Any player, regardless of experience, is welcome to submit the WSOP buyin and participate.
The World Series of Poker has events in many states, with as many as 100 competitions in recent years. A concurrent leg of the WSOP is taking place at Hard Rock Tulsa in Oklahoma this month. Next month the circuit will travel to Grand Victoria Casino in Illinois, and Horseshoe Tunica, located in Mississippi. The circuit is presented by Caesars Entertainment, and has its crowing event in Las Vegas.
Since its inception in 1970, the WSOP has awarded hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s grown from a single event to more than 100 WSOP circuit events annually, including competitions internationally. The WSOP is also popular as a television broadcast, appearing on ESPN in recent years.
