The Oneida Indian Nation has completed the $400 million Turning Stone Evolution project, a major expansion that positions Turning Stone Resort Casino as New York’s largest meetings and conventions resort.
The project adds the new Grand Expo event venue and follows the July opening of The Crescent, a 258-room luxury hotel connected directly to the convention space. According to the source report, Oxford Economics estimates the project will generate a one-time economic impact of $616 million.
What was added at Turning Stone
With the project complete, the resort now includes four hotels with 1,046 total rooms, 26 restaurants, 225,000 square feet of event space, and indoor parking for 3,200 vehicles.
The Grand Expo was designed in partnership with Gensler. It includes a 30,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom, nine breakout and meeting rooms, two rooms with outdoor patios, the White Pine Café, and a 24,000-square-foot landscaped courtyard. The new South Parking Center adds 1,492 spaces and direct connectivity to the Grand Expo.
Turning Stone marked the completion with a gala on Aug. 29 attended by tribal members, elected officials, and tourism and business leaders. The event ended with a drone and fireworks show.
What the expansion could mean for the resort
The source report says the project is expected to support thousands of construction jobs and create new permanent positions at Turning Stone Enterprises. It also says more than 60 New York businesses received contracts tied to the development.
In a statement, Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Turning Stone Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter said the investment was intended to help Turning Stone attract larger events and compete with top business and leisure destinations.
For casino visitors, the expansion is primarily about the broader resort experience rather than a change to New York gambling rules or online gaming. The update adds lodging, dining, event space, and parking at one of the state’s best-known casino resorts.
