Resorts World New York City has broken ground on Phase Two of its $5.5 billion expansion in Queens, while also opening a new slot floor that brings the property to 3,900 machines.

According to Casino Reports, the next phase at the former Aqueduct racetrack site includes a 7,000-seat concert arena, a 400-room Hyatt hotel tower, a Crockfords hotel, the Jet Center sports and media complex, and a new parking garage covered with thousands of solar panels.

The expansion comes as Resorts World NYC continues to post strong gaming numbers. Genting says the casino opened the first floor of its commercial casino on Tuesday, adding 1,400 slot machines. Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, said the property’s slot machines generated more than $230 million in gross gaming revenue in 11 weeks.

> “With these 1,400 new games, we will be able to accommodate more patrons and generate even more in taxes for the state,” DeSalvio said in a press release.

The operator also said Resorts World NYC has been New York’s top revenue-generating casino by a wide margin.

For players, the immediate change is the larger slot offering. The new floor includes Dragon Den, an immersive slot area featuring 114 Aristocrat themes, including 48 Dragon Link games. Genting also highlighted a $1 million progressive jackpot among the new offerings.

Longer term, the project points to a much larger downstate casino footprint. By 2030, Resorts World NYC projects a 350,000-square-foot gaming floor with 6,000 slot machines and 800 table games. Genting has said the completed property would be the largest integrated gaming resort in the U.S.

What remains unclear is the timeline for finishing Phase Two. The source report did not provide opening dates for the arena, hotel additions, Jet Center, or other planned elements.

For New York casino watchers, the next key update will be when Resorts World provides firmer construction milestones and opening targets for the new facilities.
