New York’s eight online sportsbooks reported $372.9 million in handle for the week ending Aug. 9, according to the New York Gaming Commission. That was up 17.8% from the same week last year, though it slipped 3% from the previous week.
Gross revenue came in at $36.7 million, up 5% year over year but down 21.2% week over week. The statewide hold was 9.8%, up from 8.3% in the prior period.
The weekly total also marked the fifth straight week that New York handle stayed below $500 million.
FanDuel and DraftKings paced the New York market
FanDuel led all operators with $131.3 million in handle and $14 million in gross revenue, finishing the week with a 10.7% hold.
DraftKings was close behind on volume, taking $125.7 million in wagers and producing $11.2 million in gross revenue. Its hold was just below 9%.
Fanatics posted $48.5 million in handle with an 8.6% hold, while BetMGM recorded $25.1 million in handle and one of the stronger win rates of the week at 13.8%.
Several smaller operators posted double-digit holds
theScore Bet finished with a 12.7% hold, and Bally Bet reported the highest figure mentioned in the weekly results at 18.4% on $2.2 million in handle.
Caesars accepted $25.6 million in wagers and held above 8%. BetRivers handled $9.1 million and kept 6%.
For New York players, the report shows a market that remained active during the early football calendar, even as total wagering dipped slightly from the prior week. The next weekly release from the New York Gaming Commission will show whether handle moves closer to the $500 million mark as the sports calendar builds.
