John Malczan will return as the chip leader when the final table begins in the Borgata Summer Poker Open $500 Almighty Stack after Day 2 played down from 279 players to six. The remaining players have each locked up $23,075, with $144,250 still set aside for the winner.
The $500 event drew 2,209 total entries and created a $927,780 prize pool. Malczan, a general contractor from Trenton, New Jersey, ended the night with 75,000,000 chips after eliminating the last two players before the final table was set.
According to PokerNews, Malczan first knocked out John Malvasio to reduce the field to nine players. He later sent Toby Gafner out in seventh place to complete the six-handed lineup.
Yuriy Kudrynskyy sits second in chips with 57,500,000 after eliminating Michael Mann in ninth place with pocket aces. The rest of the final table is William Shaw (31,000,000), John Wilson (29,500,000), Baruch Fishman (16,000,000), and Raymond Ferretti (12,000,000).
Final-table play resumes with 17 minutes left in Level 34 at blinds of 500,000/1,000,000 with a 1,000,000 big blind ante. Levels will run 40 minutes each.
For players following the finish, the final table is scheduled to be streamed on BetMGM’s official YouTube channel on a 30-minute delay.
The top payouts still in play are $144,250 for first, $98,000 for second, $66,850 for third, $44,375 for fourth, $30,225 for fifth, and $23,075 for sixth. Just before the final table was reached, Will Failla exited in eighth for $14,210, while Mann collected $11,100 for ninth. Gafner earned $17,895 for seventh.
