Unbeaten Intrepids Fantasy will face Cotillion Stakes winner Bodacious Bay in an 11-filly field for Saturday’s Grade 2 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.

The $300,000 race brings together two Grade 1 winners, Bodacious Bay and Iron Orchard. In an Equibase analysis published by the Paulick Report, Ben Kudla ranks Intrepids Fantasy first among his win contenders, followed by Bodacious Bay and Tap to Open.

Unbeaten Record Meets Grade 1 Form

Intrepids Fantasy has won all three of her starts by a combined 23 1/2 lengths. Those victories include an allowance optional claiming win by 12 3/4 lengths and a win against older fillies and mares by 8 1/4 lengths.

She earned a 90 Equibase Speed Figure in her most recent start. Her unbeaten record earns her the top position in Kudla’s preference order, although Bodacious Bay enters with a higher career-best figure.

Bodacious Bay won the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes last time out by 3 1/4 lengths, earning a career-best 101 Equibase Speed Figure. That performance supplies both a recent top-level stakes victory and a numerical advantage over Intrepids Fantasy’s latest figure.

The matchup gives the Mother Goose two distinct credentials to weigh: Intrepids Fantasy’s three decisive wins and Bodacious Bay’s recent Grade 1 success. Kudla’s selection order favors the unbeaten filly despite the difference in their cited speed figures.

Tap To Open And Race-Day Conditions

Tap to Open rounds out Kudla’s three preferred win contenders. She won the Cathryn Sophia Stakes at Parx in August, and the analysis identifies her as a possible rebound horse for the Mother Goose.

Track conditions are another factor in the preview. Kudla discusses rain in the forecast and the possibility of wet dirt, making the surface condition part of the pre-race assessment.

The Mother Goose is restricted to 3-year-old fillies and will be contested over 1 1/16 miles on dirt around one turn. It is scheduled as Race 9, with a post time of 3:43 p.m. ET.
