Churchview Meow IR won the $5,500 featured pace for fillies and mares at Vernon Downs on Thursday, July 30, giving the track’s featured race to a mare who set a lifetime-best mark of 1:54.2.
Driven by Chris Long, Churchview Meow IR went straight to the lead and controlled the race throughout. She posted fractions of :27.4, :57, and 1:25 before holding off a late move from The Hunt Is On.
The Hunt Is On finished second, while Dizzy Lizzy was third.
Churchview Meow IR is a 4-year-old mare by Foreclosure N. The win was her sixth of the season and the 15th of her career. She is owned by Peter Gentile Jr. and trained by Joe Sansone.
Elsewhere on the Vernon Downs card, Jacquavyian Carter recorded a natural driving hat trick. Leon Bailey finished with a driving double, and Wayne Bouck posted a training double.
Vernon Downs is scheduled to return to live racing on Friday, July 31, with first post set for 5:05 p.m.
