MGM Resorts and BetMGM said they will commit $320,000 to responsible gaming initiatives during Responsible Gaming Education Month in September, increasing their contribution from $250,000 a year ago.
According to the companies, the funding will support research, education, problem gambling organizations, the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline, and broader player-protection efforts. For players, the update signals a larger investment in tools and support services tied to safer gambling rather than a product rollout or promotional change.
Where the funding is going
The companies said the money will go to the International Center for Responsible Gaming, several state problem gambling councils, the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline, and the Evive Foundation.
The announcement is part of Responsible Gaming Education Month, which is observed in September. MGM Resorts and BetMGM also said they are continuing to build out responsible gaming efforts beyond direct funding.
Earlier in 2026, the companies announced more than $1 million in responsible gaming initiatives tied to Problem Gambling Awareness Month. That earlier commitment included $450,000 for the International Center for Responsible Gaming to support a three-year study on sports betting and player behavior.
Expanded GameSense training and messaging
MGM Resorts and BetMGM said more than 3,000 employees have now been certified through the GameSense Advisor program.
Responsible gaming messaging is also set to expand at T-Mobile Arena and Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. The companies said GameSense branding will continue to appear at several NFL stadiums and MLB ballparks as well.
MGM Resorts is also partnering with Carleton University on a study involving casino employees.
What BetMGM users may notice
BetMGM plans to send targeted emails promoting GameSense and responsible play. The sportsbook will also use messaging that reminds users about the option to take a time-out.
While this announcement is national rather than New York-specific, it is relevant to BetMGM users in any regulated market because it centers on player-protection tools, education, and support resources. Players who use sportsbook or casino apps can expect continued visibility for responsible gaming prompts and time-out reminders as these initiatives roll out.
