The King of Sportsbooks is here.
On Friday, BetMGM announced that its BetMGM NY Sportsbook will be live on Monday, Jan. 17.
“With today’s monumental news, we’ll now be able to fully activate our relationships with MGM Resorts’ Empire City Casino and Madison Square Garden,” BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said in a statement.
“We look forward to offering customers in New York unique experiences that they can’t access with any other platform. A huge thank you to the New York Gaming Commission as well as our entire BetMGM team who have worked tirelessly to bring this to fruition.”
BetMGM joins four other NY sports betting apps already accepting bets:
There had been some surprise within the industry that BetMGM wasn’t in the first wave of NY sports betting launches. But things began to pick up Thursday when a source told PlayNY that the operator was “close” to launching in the state.
As Greenblatt noted, BetMGM has a sports betting partnership with MSG, the Knicks and Rangers.
On Thursday, another source told PlayNY that PointsBet Sportsbook wasn’t far behind BetMGM. PointsBet hopes to be live in NY toward the end of January, though nothing is set in stone at this point.
Bally Bet could be significantly delayed in comparison, as it works to get through its new app tech and launch in Arizona. There is still no word on the timeline status of WynnBet and Resorts World.
