New York Mets Odds

Best Mets Odds at Top NY Sportsbooks

Mets fans have been waiting for an offseason like the one they just had. The much-maligned Wilpon family sold the team to Steve Cohen. Cohen is now the richest owner in baseball. Additionally, New York made some big moves in the off-season, highlighted by the trade for Francisco Lindor, who is one of the game’s top young players.

The Mets are now amongst the favorites to win the National League East, the National League Pennant, and even the World Series. And nobody would be surprised if we saw another Subway Series with the Yankees.

With all of the excitement surrounding the new-look Mets, it’s going to be a fun ride in 2021. Below you’ll see the impact that’s had on Mets betting odds  You’ll also find some trends and tips worth knowing and how and where to bet on the Mets this season.

Today’s Mets odds: Run line, moneyline, totals

Hitters like Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, and Michael Conforto give New York one of the better lineups in the league while their starting rotation is also amongst the league’s best. The Mets have a good chance of winning any game. Below, you’ll find the best available odds on their next game direct from legal online sportsbooks. Pete Alonso MVP, prop odds

Pete Alonso took the league by storm with a rookie-record 53 home runs in 2019. Even with a sophomore slump in 2020 he was still on pace to hit 45 home runs in a normal 162 game season.

Affectionately nicknamed “Polar Bear,”Alonso is amongst the league’s best power hitters. Find his best available game-by-game prop odds or MVP odds in the feed below.

Bet on Mets futures all year

You can bet on the Mets through the futures market beginning in the off-season and through the playoffs. Each day, the odds are adjusted for what has happened with a focus on factors such as the standings, the team’s current form, injuries, and playoff scenarios.

The advantage to betting through the futures market is better odds. The earlier you bet something, the higher your potential future payday will be in all likelihood. If you think the Mets will win the series, you can get them at World Series odds of +1000 before the season begins. If they are playing well, they might be down to +700 by mid-season. In the playoffs, their odds will drop after every win.

A $100 bet in the preseason might win you $1000, while that same $100 bet might only return $300 by the time the playoffs begin.

If you’d like to bet the Mets in the futures market, you can bet them to win the NL East Division. They have nearly identical odds to the Atlanta Braves to win the division. If you feel even better about New York, you can bet them to win the NL Pennant or even the World Series.

In addition to team futures, you can bet player futures. Pete Alonso set a rookie record for home-runs less than two years ago. Will he be able to return to that form and compete for MVP? Jacob deGrom won the NL Cy Young in 2018 and 2019. He finished 3rd in voting in 2020. Will deGrom return to his perch atop National League hurlers? You can bet through the futures market.

Mets schedule 2021

After a pandemic shortened 60 game season in 2020, the Mets and the rest of MLB will play a full 162 game schedule in 2021. The Mets’ season began on Thursday, April 1 against the Washington Nationals. The all-star break will be from July 12-15. The regular season will end on Sunday, October 3.

The Mets will play 19 games each against the four other teams in the National League East. Those teams are the Miami Marlins, Atlanta Braves, Washington Nationals, and Philadelphia Phillies. Additionally, the Mets will play either six or seven games each against the other teams in the National League. They will play 20 interleague games against the American League, with at least four of those being against the Yankees.

The schedule is divided into two-, three-, or four-game series. Each team plays two series per week; one on the weekend and one during the week. There are 27-weekend series and 25-weekday series, meaning each team will play 52 series per year. The season lasts 187 days.

How did the Mets do last year?

In 2020, the Mets finished with a record of 26-34. They were tied for the last place in the NL East. They missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year.

Despite the poor record, some individual Mets players had great years. Michael Conforto, Dominic Smith, and Jeff McNeil all batted well over .300 for the Mets. Pete Alonso hit 16 home runs in the shortened season. Jacob deGrom finished 3rd in Cy Young voting.

The Mets proved they had plenty of talent. Now it’s a matter of molding that talent and being able to get everything to work at the same time.

Mets betting lines explained

Below is an example of the betting lines for a Mets game with an explanation of what each bet type means:

TeamRun LineMoneylineTotal
NY Mets-1.5 (+140)-135Over 8.5 (-110)
Philadelphia Phillies+1.5 (-160)+115Under 8.5 (-110)
  • Run line: What is the run line in baseball betting? If you bet a favorite to cover the run line, you are predicting they win the game by at least two runs. If you bet the underdog to cover the run line, you are predicting they either win the game or keep it within a run. This is similar to spread betting in other sports or puck-line betting in hockey. Due to the variance in baseball, teams are usually underdogs to cover the run line as favorites.
  • Moneyline: Pick the winner. It doesn’t get simpler than that. Moneyline betting odds are adjusted based on the likelihood of each team winning. In the above example, the Mets are slight favorites to beat the Phillies. To win $100 by betting the Mets, you’d need to risk $135.
  • Total: Just like every other sport, total betting is a fun way to get involved in the game without caring who wins. Simply pick whether the teams will combine to score more or fewer runs than the listed total.

Mets Vegas odds vs. online odds in NY/NJ

It’s no surprise to know that the sportsbooks in New Jersey have adopted the tried and true methods of sportsbooks in Vegas. After all, Vegas has had a head start of quite a few years.

Both Vegas and the local sportsbooks use similar methods to set their lines. They rely heavily on analytics and computer models with some small adjustments for outside factors such as injuries or public perception.

The main difference you’ll see locally is if you bet the hometown team. Local sportsbooks might move the lines slightly away from the home team because they don’t want to expose themselves to too much one-sided action.

Mets live betting

If you miss the first pitch of a Mets game, it doesn’t mean you’re too late to get in on the action. With live betting, you can place a baseball bet at any point after the game has started. The oddsmakers will adjust the odds based on what has already happened in the game.

If you notice Jacob deGrom is dealing and is keeping his pitch count low, you might want to live bet the under. If the Mets fall behind early but you expect their offense to rally, you can live bet the Mets will win at better odds than they were before the game.

You can also live bet various props such as the next team to score a run, whether the upcoming batter will get a hit, or which team will win the next inning.

Live betting is best with an app. With an app, you can bet from anywhere within the state. If you’re running late coming home from work, you can place a bet without needing to be in front of a computer. You can also track your bet easily from your phone.

Why bet the Mets over the Yankees

Baseball fans in New York are blessed with two teams that are expected to compete for the World Series. The Mets have long lived in the shadows of the Yankees, but there have been plenty of times in history where the Mets ran this town. There are some good reasons why you should place your hard-earned money on the Amazins over the Bronx Bombers.

  • Reputation: The Yankees have a reputation as the class of professional sports. They are the most popular baseball team in the world and they’ve done a lot of winning over the years. For this reason, their lines are usually inflated and provide minimal value on a game-by-game basis. On the other hand, the Mets have had some low moments which includes missing the postseason for four straight years. The Mets are expected to be much improved, but it might take a while for sportsbooks and bettors to catch on to that. There’s potential for value on the Mets in the early going based on their reputation.
  • Starting pitching: Jacob deGrom is considered the best pitcher in baseball by most. The team also will get Marcus Stroman back after he opted out of the shortened 2020 season. Noah Syndergaard is expected to return early in the summer from Tommy John surgery and he’s one of the most feared pitchers in the league. The team traded for Carlos Carrasco in the Francisco Lindor trade. The Mets also signed Taijuan Walker in free agency. David Peterson had a great rookie year while Joey Lucchesi and Jordan Yamamoto have flashed their talents in the majors already. The NY Yankees on the other hand have Gerrit Cole and then question marks like Corey Kluber, Luis Severino, and Jameson Taillon who are trying to come back from major injuries.

Which teams do the Mets have the best and worst records against?

The New York Mets were founded in 1962 and have a long storied history. But which teams do they dominate? Which teams do they struggle the most against?

The Mets have beaten the Philadelphia Phillies 490 times, the most of any opponent. Behind the Phillies are the Washington Nationals (formerly the Montreal Expos) with 436 wins. Rounding out the top three are the Atlanta Braves. The Mets have beaten them 398 times. The Mets’ best winning percentage is against the Cleveland Indians. They’ve won 13 of 18 games against them for a winning percentage of .722.

Coincidentally, the three teams the Mets have beat the most are also the three teams they’ve lost to the most. Philadelphia has beaten the Mets 526 times, the Braves have beaten New York 479 times and the Nationals franchise has handed the Mets 449 losses. Their worst winning percentage comes against the Seattle Mariners. The Mets have beaten the Mariners just five times in 15 tries, for a winning percentage of .333.

Mets sports betting partnerships

The New York Mets do not yet have an official sports betting partner. Sports betting will soon be legalized in New York, and once that happens, expect the Mets to partner with a sportsbook. This will likely allow fans to bet at Citi Field while being able to enjoy some sports betting-specific content at the games.
