While Barstool Sportsbook was not included in the first list of oddsmakers to be given online sports betting licenses in New York, there’s no reason it couldn’t be granted a license down the road. With that in mind, we’ve put together this Barstool Sportsbook NY review to help get you ready for when that time comes, including how to get the most up-to-date Barstool bonus code.

You might be aware of Barstool — the media company and its founder have been involved in several controversies. Barstool Sportsbook is the result of a partnership between the media company and Penn National Gaming.

In this Barstool review, we’ll take a look at Barstool Sportsbook’s welcome bonus and the Barstool bonus code needed to unlock it. We’ll also tell you about the Barstool Sportsbook app, your betting options, banking choices and more.

Barstool Sportsbook promo code NY 2024

New Barstool players can claim a two-part welcome offer. First, you’ll receive a $10 bonus just for signing up. You’ll then receive a bonus bet for up to $1,000. Barstool calls this a “2 for 1 Player Bonus.” You must be 21 or older to register and claim this offer.

Barstool online sportsbook welcome bonus — the fine print!

Once you’ve created an account, you can use the $10 bonus bet on a straight wager of your choice. It must have odds of -200 or higher, and you’ll need to place the bet within seven days.

The second part of the bonus means Barstool will refund your first bet (up to $1,000) if it loses. The refund is not in cash, though. Instead, you’ll receive a one-time bonus bet. Again, you’ll have to use this to place a bet with odds of -200 or higher.

For example, if your first bet of $50 loses, Barstool will provide you with a $50 bonus bet. And if you win your first bet, you won’t receive any bonus cash, but you will be free to withdraw or spend your winnings as you usually would.

Can I trust Barstool Sportsbook in New York?

Yes, despite its controversies, Barstool can be trusted as an online sportsbook. However, you will have to wait a little bit as Barstool is not yet licensed in New York. When the New York Gaming Commission grants Barstool Sportsbook a betting license in the state, you will have to abide by a few rules to bet with the online sportsbook.

When signing up, Barstool will confirm your identity and thus your age. You are required to be at least 21 years old to bet on sports in New York. Your location also will be monitored every time you log into your Barstool account. This is because you must be within state lines when placing bets. There is no way around this requirement.

Additionally, you’ll be happy to know that Barstool follows strict guidelines on responsible gambling, per the state’s gambling regulator. This means you can set limits on your betting and self-exclude if you wish to.

Getting started at Barstool Sportsbook in New York

You can create a Barstool Sportsbook account providing you are 21 or older.

Head to the site to begin, then select “Log In” and “Create New Account.” You will then need to fill in the following information:

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Mailing address
  • Date of birth
  • Last four digits of your Social Security number

Barstool will then ask you to read the terms and conditions of the site. Agree to them after reading, confirm your age and marketing preferences, then wait for the sportsbook to create your account. The whole process should take a minute or two, at most.

How do I download the Barstool sports betting app?

The Barstool app is available to make betting on your phone or tablet easier, which is huge since we’re guessing people reading this may be traveling to bet with Barstool Sportsbook. It works on Android and iOS devices, and here is how you can download it:

Barstool Sportsbook for iOS

Open your browser of choice on your Apple device, then head to the Barstool site and locate the “Download for iOS” app prompt. This will redirect you to the App Store, where you can install the app onto your iPhone or iPad.

Barstool Sportsbook for Android

Downloading Barstool onto your Android device requires following basically the same steps as above. In this case, clicking the Android download link will take you to the Google Play Store, where you can download and install the Barstool Sportsbook app directly to your mobile device.

Where do I find Barstool Sportsbook promotions?

The collapsible menu on the left side of the site offers a fast route over to the Barstool promotions page. If you’re using the Barstool Sportsbook app, locate the link in the main menu. The promos page offers giveaways, parlay bonuses, leaderboards and a handful of other offers.

Giveaways are particularly popular at Barstool — the sportsbook was running four at the time of this review. We’re not sure how many people would like to wear Barstool merchandise, but if that’s you, there are ways to win it by earning giveaway entries. You will have to place a $50 or even a $100 bet to receive an entry, however, which is very high considering hoodies on the Barstool store go for $50 to $65.

One of the better ways to win a bonus bet is to customize your Barstool profile. The sportsbook will reward you with a $5 bonus just for setting your “Betting Favorites” in your account preferences.

Barstool is part of Penn National’s rewards program — the sportsbook offers mychoice rewards to its users, which you’ll need to opt into. We have more details on that below.

Why should I choose the Barstool Sportsbook app?

Here are the top features of Barstool that we like:

  • Account customization: It’s great that you can set your betting favorites at Barstool, and it’s even better that you’ll receive a $5 bonus just for doing so. This means that you’ll see more promos based on your favorite sports, and select events will appear on your homepage to make it easier to find the games you actually want to bet on.
  • Mychoice rewards: Users can build points and receive perks. Once you’ve collected enough points, you will be able to trade them in for discounted hotels and meals, merchandise, or even sportsbook credit. Mychoice recently released Real Time Rewards, too, which allows players with 3,000 tier points or more to begin earning mycash.
  • Collapsible menus: The bet slip at Caesars Sportsbook takes up too much of the screen, while the BetFeed is an unnecessary feature on the BetRivers betting app Barstool, however, has created collapsible menus that you can minimize at either side of your screen. This means more space for browsing odds, without navigation tools getting in your way.

What won’t I like about the Barstool Sportsbook app?

  • Promo Requirements: Giveaways are great promotions to run at a sportsbook, but not when entries are as much as they are at Barstool. At this sportsbook, you’ll sometimes need to spend more than $100 to even be in with a chance of winning a hoodie. This really isn’t worth it as far as we’re concerned.
  • Company background: The Barstool name has been linked to several controversies, and you may prefer to support other online sportsbooks like the DraftKings app or BetMGM as a result.
  • Odds boosts: You’ll find odds boosts aplenty at the likes of FanDuel Sportsbook, Caesars and other online sportsbooks — but not Barstool. There’s very little in the form of enhanced odds here, which seems a huge shame.

What kind of bets can I make at Barstool online betting?

Barstool has all the usual bets you would expect from a sportsbook of its size, starting with the basic three of totals, moneylines and point spreads. These are easy enough to explain:

  • Totals: Bet on the combined number of points both teams will score during a game. Barstool will set a benchmark, and you can bet on the actual total score being over or under that number.
  • Point spreads: Bet on the winning margin between two teams. Again, you’ll see a benchmark here that you can use to make your selections.
  • Moneylines: Here, you’re simply betting on the winner. The favorite will have negative odds, and the underdog will generally have positive odds.

Click the “More Bets” button under any event to see other betting options. At Barstool, props are usually individually named — so you’re more likely to find tabs for “Player Specials,” “Player Points” and “Team Rebounds” than you are a full “Props” link. There’s also a “Game” tab for you to bet on whether the final score will be odd or even, the result after the first half of a game and more.

Parlays are available at Barstool Sportsbook by making your selections and stringing them together in your betting slip. Open the live betting page by clicking the red “Live Events” banner on the Barstool homepage. There are fewer betting options available here, but you have the added excitement of wagering on a game in real-time.

You can find futures bets in their own tab of most major league pages. These are bets on longer-term outcomes, like wagering on the winner of a league before the season begins or at some point in the early going.

One downside is that there are definitely fewer betting lines available at Barstool, even though the majority of betting options are covered — that’s something to bear in mind if you’re someone who gets bored easily.

Can I bet on the New York Jets at Barstool Sportsbook?

Yes, you can place bets on the New York Jets at Barstool. You might not find as many betting options as at some online sportsbooks, but you can still get in on the action. To start, you might like to place a futures bet on the Jets to win the AFC East or even to win the Super Bowl. (It’s been over 50 years. The Jets are due!)

You can then place live bets when the Jets are playing, or props on your favorite players. Barstool Sports commonly runs parlay bonuses on NFL games, which could get you a bonus bet or two. If you want to bet on something a little different, you could wager on whether a Jets game will go into overtime, total points from the team, the halftime result and more.

How do I get money on (and off!) Barstool Sportsbook quickly?

Open the Barstool cashier to deposit or withdraw funds. Deposits start at $10, and funds will appear in your account instantly so you can get to betting. Fund your account using one of the payment methods below:

  • Credit/debit card
  • PayNearMe (Family Dollar, CVS, 7-Eleven locations)
  • PayPal
  • Play+ card
  • Apple Pay
  • Wire transfer

Withdrawals can take up to 10 days to reach you from Barstool, which is much slower than the industry standard of three to five business days. Use one of the following methods for any withdrawals you want to make:

  • Online banking
  • ACH
  • Prepaid card
  • Check by mail

How do I get help at Barstool Sportsbook?

Barstool is similar to most other online sportsbooks with its help and support page. You can click on the “Contact Support” link on the app or website first to access information on promotions, how to bet, funding your account and gambling responsibly. If you need to get in touch with a representative, select “Contact Us” form that page to access links to initiate a live chat, request a callback or send an email.

How do I exclude myself from Barstool online sports betting?

Barstool’s responsible gambling policy is available by clicking the “RG” logo at the top of the site, or by finding the link to the policy in the Barstool footer. Here, you can read about your options for setting limits on your play.

To start, you can set limits on the amount you deposit or bet, and the time you spend on the site. You can set these per day, week or month. If you wish to set a cool-off or exclusion period on your account, open your account settings. Timeouts can be for three days, one week, two weeks, three weeks or a month. Self-exclusions can last one year, five years or indefinitely.

Should you wish to permanently close your Barstool account, open a live chat with a member of the sportsbook’s support team.

Can I bet at Barstool Sportsbook in person?

You can’t place in-person bets in New York at a Barstool location yet, but this could be in the pipeline. It’s not entirely clear where this would be based, though.

How does Barstool compare to other New York sportsbooks?

Barstool has all the basics of a decent sportsbook, though we would still rate it behind sportsbooks like FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars and DraftKings at the moment. Though we like the personal touches on the site and rewards program, and the ability to navigate the site easily, there are a few major issues that remain.

If Barstool is to compete with other sportsbooks in the state, it would be great to see better promotions that have lower entry requirements. We don’t particularly want to bet $100 for the chance to win a hoodie, for example. It would be great to see additional bonus bet offers in place of the many giveaways live on the site right now.

Barstool Sportsbook FAQs

Are Barstool betting lines comparable to other online sportsbooks?

While the odds at Barstool are arguably just as good as other sportsbooks, there are way fewer betting lines to browse. While Caesars may offer 10-plus betting options for an NBA game, for example, Barstool may only offer five. Quantity is missing here.

Does Barstool offer odds boosts?

You’ll find only a handful of odds boosts at Barstool, which is disappointing when you look at the full pages dedicated to enhanced odds at some online sportsbooks.

How do I get the Barstool app?

Using your phone’s mobile browser, head to the Barstool Sportsbook site and select either the Android or iOS prompt. Follow the onscreen steps to download the app, then log in or sign up for an account to start betting.

Can I bet on the New York Knicks at Barstool?

Yes. Head over to the basketball page then click on the NBA button to locate both live and upcoming New York Knicks games. You can also place futures bets on the Knicks at Barstool.

How do I deposit money into my account?

Deposits start at $10. You can use a prepaid card, bank transfer, PayPal, PayNearMe, Visa/Mastercard or Apple Pay to fund your account. Funds will arrive in your account instantly.
