The much-anticipated debut of Fanatics Sportsbook has finally arrived in New York.

Fanatics Betting and Gaming, a subsidiary of merchandising and apparel giant Fanatics Holdings Inc, officially launched Fanatics Sportsbook NY on Thursday. The mobile sports betting app is available on iOS and Android.

PointsBet to Fanatics Sportsbook NY transition is finally done

After acquiring PointsBet’s US sports betting operations for $225 million last year, Fanatics rebranded most of the existing sportsbook products as PointsBet, A Fanatics Experience, including in NY, where the company received regulatory approval in October.

In a press release announcing the NY launch, the sportsbook says Empire State gamblers won’t have to do much other than download the new app. Existing customers’ usernames, passwords, account balances, rewards points and responsible gaming settings will be automatically migrated over to Fanatics Sportsbook.

Fanatics Sportsbook customers earn FanCash from their bets, which can be used on officially licensed merchandise and gear at Fanatics.com.

Now that NY is in the fold, Fanatics Sportsbook is live in 15 states. According to the press release, Fanatics will hold off on more state rebrands until after North Carolina’s legal sports gambling launch in March.

Fanatics joins NY sports betting market at the right time

Since launching in January 2022, legal sports betting in NY has exploded, becoming the country’s largest and most lucrative sports gambling market.

NY’s nine online sportsbook operators reported nearly $1.7 billion in NY sports betting revenue in 2023. According to NY State Gaming Commission data, online sportsbooks accepted over $19.1 billion in legal bets last year.

NY sportsbooks kicked off 2024 with $1.96 billion in monthly handle (the total amount wagered) while reporting more than $211 million in revenue, a new all-time high.

Fanatics (as PointsBet, A Fanatics Experience) had its best month since January 2023 with $31.7 million in handle and $2.6 million in revenue.
