Be sure to hold on to those NY Lottery tickets
As noted, New York Lottery players should hold on to their tickets until all winners are confirmed. Why? Well, take a recent incident surrounding the draw game Mega Millions.
A month ago, the numbers were revealed for the $86 million prize pool. No ticket matched those numbers. The world moved on.
Then, the New York Lottery released a statement noting that it had “temporarily suspended prize payments for all Mega Millions tickets and all Mega Millions players should hold on to their tickets for the May 10, 2022 drawing until the issue is a resolved.”
A “human error,” according to the lottery, led to the an incorrect Mega Ball number. The NY Lottery announced the correct numbers shortly after. While it still didn’t result in a jackpot winner, it just goes to show: Keep those lottery tickets nearby until hearing a confirmation of winning numbers.
